Q: Was this your first time flying with Sea to Sky Air? Were you feeling adventurous or nervous?
Denni: Yes, it was my first time flying with Sea to Sky Air – and in a small plane. I have a background in motocross racing, so I do enjoy adrenaline-fueled activities. However, I must admit I was a little nervous before the flight. Flying in a small aircraft was a new experience for me, and I didn’t know what to expect. But I knew the sights would be incredible, so I focused on the excitement I would feel after the flight. And let me tell you; it was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. I loved it so much that I even considered learning how to fly myself!
Q: How did you feel once you were in the air?
Denni: Once we were in the air, my initial nervousness started to fade away. I couldn’t help but peek out the window to admire the breathtaking sights below. Surprisingly, the flight felt smooth and almost effortless. I expected it to be a bit more turbulent, but it turned out to be a breeze. I thought I would be too scared to look down, but I couldn’t resist gazing at the stunning scenery passing beneath us. Flying above the landscape gave me a whole new perspective, allowing me to see so much more than I would have from the ground. Our pilot, Chelsea, was fantastic and made sure I felt comfortable throughout the entire flight, which I really appreciated.
Q: Among all the amazing landscapes you saw, which one was your favorite?
Denni: Without a doubt, my favorite landscape was Black Tusk. It was a mesmerizing sight with its partially melted snow and the striking black rock formations emerging from it. The diverse composition of the terrain was truly incredible. Our pilot took us around the tusk, allowing me to capture some stunning photos. On our way back, it was also fascinating to spot the alpine cabins perched atop the high mountains, serving as shelters for climbers in emergencies. It was a sight I wouldn’t have seen otherwise.
Q: As a local resident of Squamish, what was it like to see your town from above? Did you happen to spot your house?
Denni: Seeing Squamish from above was an extraordinary experience, especially as a Squamish resident. It provided a whole new perspective on the beauty and diversity of our town. From frozen lakes and glaciers to volcanic mountains and snow-covered canyons, Squamish truly is an awe-inspiring place to live. During our descent, I was fortunate enough to catch a glimpse of my family waving from our balcony. It was an incredibly heartwarming moment and a memory that I will cherish forever.
Q: What advice do you have for first-time flyers?
Denni: My advice for first-time flyers is to embrace the anticipation and acknowledge any fear you may have. Visualize the incredible experience that awaits you and the exhilaration you will feel once the flight is over. Trust in the expertise of the pilots at Sea to Sky Air and the stunning sights you will witness from above. Take the leap, conquer your fears, and indulge in the adventure of a lifetime. You won’t regret it! Also, in turbulence, it’s great to imagine ‘I’m in jello’.
